About Caltury

AML software, built in Australia.

Caltury exists because around 100,000 independent Australian practices — real estate agencies, conveyancers, accountants and small law firms — are about to inherit some of the most complex regulatory obligations in the country, and no one has built software that actually helps the small ones comply. So I am.

Why this

Independents got handed the regulator nobody warned them about.

01

The change

On 1 July 2026, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 extends to Tranche 2 reporting entities. That includes every Australian real estate agency, conveyancer, accountant and small law firm, regardless of size.

02

The 100,000

Around 100,000 independent (non-franchise) AU practices, most under 10 staff. Each one needs to enrol with AUSTRAC, write an AML/CTF Program, do customer due diligence, screen sanctions, lodge suspicious-matter reports in 3 days, train staff yearly, and retain records for 7 years.

03

The gap

Enterprise AML platforms exist for banks at A$30k+ per year. Lawyers will sell you a one-shot policy document. None of that is software you actually use day to day. Caltury is that software, sized for the small independent practice that picks its own tools.

What I believe

Four positions Caltury will not move on.

01

Compliance is a workflow

A PDF policy document does not keep you compliant. A workflow does. Every Caltury feature is a verb (onboard, screen, lodge, train), not a folder of acronyms.

02

Australian data, Australian law

Your Caltury record (org, customers, KYC results, audit log) lives in Sydney. Identity verification, sanctions screening, SMR drafting and email use named overseas sub-processors, disclosed at signup. Australian law governs every contract.

03

Plain English over jargon

If you've never read the AML/CTF Act, you won't have to. Caltury speaks in the language of your practice (buyers, sellers, clients, settlements) and translates to the AUSTRAC narrative behind the scenes.

04

Software, not lawyers

Caltury is not your lawyer, your accountant, or your AUSTRAC liaison. It is the system of record they all need to work from. That fact is made clear in every export.

Who's behind it

One founder, building hard, until it works.

Caltury is built by Ben Horne — a sole-trader founder in Australia (ABN 49 452 393 782). Contracts are governed by Australian law. Incorporation as a Pty Ltd happens once Caltury earns its first ten customers, which keeps overheads off the subscription price until the product has proven itself.

No outside money. The product roadmap is set by customer obligation, not by board pressure. If AUSTRAC issues guidance on a Tuesday, the change ships Wednesday.

Background is military, not finance. Seven years in the ADF taught me that a checklist that fits in your pocket beats a binder that lives on a shelf. Caltury is built around that same belief: the work happens in the workflow, not in the policy document.
